Job Summary
The Office of Online & Digital Education seeks an Instructional Designer who plays a critical role in enhancing the quality of online and blended learning experiences. This position collaborates with faculty to implement effective instructional design strategies and develops training resources to support faculty in creating engaging and accessible course content.
This role reports to the Director of Online and Digital Education.
Responsibilities*
- Collaborate with Faculty on Instructional Design
- Partner with faculty to apply instructional design strategies, multimedia technologies, and instructional software to enhance online teaching.
- Provide regular feedback to faculty on course designs and support the formal course review process.
- Assist faculty in developing strategies for evaluating learning outcomes.
- Develop and Teach Workshops
- Plan, develop, and conduct workshops and other training activities on instructional design and technology tools.
- Create online workshops, webinars, and training resources tailored for distance education.
- Media Creation and Consultation
- Assist faculty in creating recorded lectures and other media.
- Consult on media design and delivery strategies.
- Enhance media in pre- and post-production stages.
- Research and Evaluation of Emerging Technologies
- Research and evaluate new instructional technologies and design theories.
- Provide strategic advice on the implementation of instructional technologies.
- Collaborate with departments to implement technical solutions and develop consistent quality standards.
- Evaluate and Develop Noncredit Programs
- Participate in evaluating and developing noncredit programs, courses, and training products.
- Create policies, procedures, and training on online accessibility and copyright best practices.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field.
- 3 or more years of experience in instructional design or relevant experience
- Experience developing and delivering training workshops and online educational resources.
- Proficient in instructional design software and tools (e.g., Canvas, Articulate 360, Camtasia).
- Knowledgeable about accessibility standards and best practices for online education.
- Familiar with learning management systems and educational technology platforms.
- Understanding of AI applications in education and online teaching platforms.

Modes of Work
Hybrid:
The work requirements allow both onsite and offsite work and an employee has an expected recurring onsite presence. On occasion, the employee may be required and must be available to work onsite more frequently if necessitated by unit leadership or their designee and/or the job requirements.
