Job Summary
This role is critical to the Student Veterans Resource Center to ensure timely reporting of VA education benefits and military tuition assistance funding for veteran-connected students. This position reports to the Program Manager of the Student Veterans Resource Center and supplements the work of the Student Admin Assistant Senior in certifying and processing VA and Department of Defense benefits for veterans and eligible military-connected students.
The SVRC currently serves student veterans in many areas, including academic assistance, GI Bill and VA education benefit assistance, career preparation, and established connections with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and other community Veteran Service Organizations (VSO). Through established connections to campus and external community partners, the SVRC proudly serves Veterans, National Guard and Reserve, as well as spouses and dependents of the student veteran population at UM-Flint.
Responsibilities*

- School Certifying Official Training
- Process VA and Department of Defense (DoD) Educational Benefits
- Counsel Students
- Conduct Student Degree Audits
- Monitor and Maintain Program Compliance
- Liaison and Advocacy

Required Qualifications*
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Administrative experience related to the responsibilities of this position
- Knowledge and demonstrated ability to use advanced software and computer applications, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Google Suite applications) with demonstrated capacity and ability to learn required VA and DoD applications
Desired Qualifications*
- Familiarity with VA education benefits and DoD military tuition assistance programs
Work Schedule
- This position will start Summer Term 2025 and has the potential to continue into the 2025-26 academic year depending on office fit
- Number of hours per week: 25
- Availability to schedule work hours during Student Veterans Resource Center office hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday and assist with special events after 5:00 p.m. as needed.
Modes of Work
Hybrid
The work requirements allow both onsite and offsite work and an employee has an expected recurring onsite presence. On occasion, the employee may be required and must be available to work onsite more frequently if necessitated by unit leadership or their designee and/or the job requirements.

Background Screening
