Briarwood Pediatric Rehabilitation is seeking a Patient Services Associate. This position provides general clerical support in a patient care environment.

Responsibilities*
This position will schedule new and return visits determining appropriate sub-specialty within a clinic based on symptoms. Schedule patients for consultations in other clinics and diagnostic studies. Maintain and update appointment schedules based on change in availability of medical and other professional staff. Determine existence of previous registration and obtain, verify and update insurance, financial, statistical and demographic information with the patient. Collect cash and credit card payments from patients using established guidelines to determine patient pay portion, insurance portion or professional courtesy. Provide information to patient regarding billing procedures. Reconcile clinic cash collections daily.
Required Qualifications*
- High school diploma or GED
- Exceptional interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Excellent customer service experience and general knowledge of medical office practices
- A self-starter, motivated, with a positive and professional attitude
- Demonstrated active listening, effective verbal and written skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently
- Good organizational skills,
- Prioritization skills and the ability to multitask
- Ability to take direction and work with others as part of a team.
Desired Qualifications*
- Experience working within a large, complex healthcare setting
- Familiarity with Michigan Medicine's electronic medical record systems
- knowledge of university policies & procedures
The ability to understand medical documentation, coding and diagnosis is preferred
Work Schedule
Hours for this position are M-Th 10:00A - 6:30P; F 8:30A - 5:00P.

Union Affiliation
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
Background Screening
