Job Summary
The Armenian Research Center (ARC) at the University of Michigan-Dearborn is seeking a part-time Assistant to help with sorting and organizing the Center's library and collections.
Responsibilities*
- Identify and manage duplicate items, including multiple duplicates
- Update and maintain the ARC's internal catalog
- Assist with sorting, shelving and un-shelving materials
- Create container lists and directories
- Make lists of uncatalogued resources and create basic finding aids
- Prepare materials for long-term storage
Required Qualifications*
- Working knowledge of Eastern or Western Armenian, including the ability to read fluently and recognize the orthographic differences
- Experience working with physical collections
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail
- Strong administrative, organizational, and follow-up skills
- Armenian language fluency
Desired Qualifications*
- Knowledge of Turkish, Russian, Arabic or other languages is a plus, but not required
- Experience with creating and editing MARC records, and copy cataloging a plus but not required
- Enrollment in or recent completion of a Master's-level program in Library Science, or a related field is preferred, but not required
