Job Summary
This temporary position is responsible for transporting clinic supplies to and from community clinic locations, coordinating activity at the clinic site, and assisting patients completing forms and making payment for services. Registrars are responsible for using technology and equipment according to department expectations and policies. The registrar ensures appropriate patient care and community relations and represents University of Michigan in a positive and professional manner. Immunization clinics are provided at various locations in Wayne, Washtenaw, Livingston and Lenawee counties.
This position is temporary. Interested applicants should apply only if they are confident that they will be available to work September - December and if they have reliable transportation. The number of hours available varies per week based on programmatic needs. Program runs 7 days per week, however most work is on weekdays between 8am-5pm.

Responsibilities*
- Arrives at office on time to pick up supplies to ensure that clinic starts in a timely manner.
- Transports supplies to and from the clinic site.
- Assists nurses with clinic set-up and breakdown.
- Communicates and interacts with customers, co-workers, and the public in a positive and effective manner.
- Provides patients with Vaccine Information Statements and/or Emergency Use Authorizations.
- Schedules patients for appointments and arrives patients for visit.
- Confirms patient demographics and insurance information.
- Collects payment when necessary and provides the patient with a receipt. Payment methods may include cash, check, specified insurances and credit cards.
- Defers to nursing staff for patient health-related questions or situations.
- Contacts EMS as directed by nursing staff, if necessary.
- Completes forms following each clinic, including details on the number/types of immunizations provided, and method of payment for each immunization.
- Ensures that the clinic area is neat and clean.
- Returns clinic supplies, paperwork, reports, and payment collected from each clinic immediately following the clinic.
- Actively engages patients by exhibiting respect and dignity in a warm and welcoming manner.
- Collaborates with other team members.
- Completes all mandatory learning via Cornerstone in a timely and efficient manner.
Required Qualifications*
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Drivers License
- Reliable transportation with the ability to travel from point A to point B throughout the workday as assigned
- Clear understanding of how one accesses Wi-Fi and cellular networks on laptop computers
- Excellent communication and organization skill
- Ability to work autonomously in a non-structured environment
Desired Qualifications*
- Previous experience working with the public
- Previous experience handling various payment options
- Basic insurance knowledge
- Previous experience with electronic medical records

Modes of Work
This position is not eligible for remote/hybrid work. Employees are required to travel to clinics as assigned. Clinics are at various off-site locations throughout southeast Michigan. Mileage reimbursement is available for qualifying travel as per Michigan Medicine policy.
Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
