Job Summary
ArtsEngine, housed within the College of Engineering, strives to enhance the academic experience by offering programs for undergraduate and graduate students (primarily in the North Campus schools and colleges), while encouraging them to take advantage of a broad array of educational opportunities available at the University of Michigan. We administer the ArtsEngine UARTS/FEAST Program, the living-learning community Living ArtsEngine, funding programs for interdisciplinary student and faculty projects and research, and other engaged learning efforts and collaborative initiatives.
We are seeking a lecturer who will work closely with students in the UARTS curricular program to develop their interdisciplinary collaboration and design skills and enhance their experience on their academic journey at UM. You will report to the Director of ArtsEngine.
This position is 25% effort, teaching one class in the Fall 2025 term. Class is on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30pm - 6:30pm. You will be required to teach on campus.
Responsibilities*
- Delivery instruction as per the course syllabus
- Attend regular instructional team meetings throughout the Fall semester (3-5 throughout the semester)
- Create and deliver 1-2 project workshops as part of the interdisciplinary rotating curriculum
- Be responsible for specific pedagogy delivery and grading for up to 19 assigned students as a "homeroom" cohort throughout the fall semester
- Participate in professional development and group work around evaluating and grading college level writing, in collaboration with the writing instructor.
- Prepare students for project presentation/showcase as their final project/exam.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree in music, theatre, dance, or other related fields; masters or PdD in performing arts discipline, Music Theory, Musicology preferred
- Experience teaching undergraduate students; preferred 2 years of teaching experience
- Experience or familiarity with team instruction, interdisciplinary pedagogy, and/or project-based learning at the college level.
- Experience evaluating and grading college level writing assignments.
