The University of Michigan School of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is seeking outstanding candidates with fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology. Successful candidates will be expected to establish a clinical and surgical practice, including screening and surgical treatment of ROP, and an independent research program in visual sciences with a primary appointment in the Department of OphthalmologyA joint appointment in an appropriate basic science department will be considered for applicable candidates. 

The candidate will be expected to participate in research and graduate education as well as in departmental efforts in education in ophthalmology and visual sciences. Additional teaching duties may be associated with a joint appointment in a basic science department. The University of Michigan Medical School provides an outstanding academic environment for all areas of biomedical sciences and has for many years been a leading center for research in ophthalmology and visual sciences. Vision research at the University of Michigan is supported by a Vision Core grant supporting outstanding facilities and an NEI-funded training grant for graduate students and fellows in eye research.

 

Required Qualifications*

Successful candidates will have an MD, or equivalent, in areas as described above. Documentation of scholarly ability and achievement (record of publications in peer-reviewed journals; record of acquisition of external funding for research programs, research plan, collaborative research experience) is expected

Background Screening
