What You'll Do

BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY

As a Patient Services Associate, you will be a key member of a team of our Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology team, supporting patients with Cochlear Implants and other implantable devices. Your role is essential in creating a welcoming and supportive environment for patients and their families. You will manage front-line administrative tasks that ensure smooth clinic operations and positive patient experience. 

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greeting and assisting patients during check-in and check-out 
  • Handling incoming phone calls, scheduling appointments, and providing helpful, accurate information.
  • Maintaining and updating patient records while ensuring confidentiality and HIPPA compliance
  • Communicating with appointment details and follow up instructions to patients and their families
  • Collecting payments and issuing receipts
  • Supporting the healthcare providers with administrative tasks and coordinating follow-up services
  • collaborating with clinical and administrative staff to ensure efficient patient flow and high-quality care. 

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Direct supervision is received from site Manager.

Required Qualifications*

  • Graduation from high school or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Desired Qualifications*

  • 1 year of customer service experience.

 

Modes of Work

Union Affiliation

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
