Responsibilities*
To provide specialized care and management of patients seeking infertility care and first trimester pregnancy management.
Conduct comprehensive fertility assessments including medical history, physical exam, laboratory tests and ultrasound evaluations.
Provide counseling and education to patients on fertility treatments, including assisted reproductive technologies like IVF, IUI, egg retrieval, and sperm analysis.
Provide counseling, management and education to patients for other factors impacting reproductive health such as thyroid dysfunction, ovulatory dysfunction, endometriosis, metabolic dysfunction, procreative management, perimenopause, oncofertility, recurrent pregnancy loss.
Collaborate with reproductive endocrinologist physicians and other specialists to develop personalized treatment plans for infertility patients.
Monitor and manage patients undergoing fertility treatments, ensuring optimal care and addressing any complications or side effects.
Perform and interpret diagnostic procedures such as ultrasound, saline sonohysterogram, endometrial biopsy, hormone assessments, and semen analysis.
Obstetrical care for patients until the 10th week of pregnancy including laboratory and ultrasound monitoring, symptoms management, non surgical management of missed abortions and collaboration with primary obstetric providers for transition to regular obstetric care.
Educate and support patients and families on emotional and psychological aspects of infertility and treatments.
Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
Evaluates and orders laboratory or other studies, develops plans and provides direct patient care.
Provides direct supervision and education to midwifery students, medical students physicians-in-training and other learners.
Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of guidelines for care management for infertility and antenatal care.

Required Qualifications*
Current Michigan license to practice as a Registered Nurse
Current Michigan license to practice as a Certified Nurse-Midwife
Master?s Degree in Nursing, Midwifery or Public Health
Documented ability to function effectively as a team member
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Obstetric/gynecologic ultrasound training for infertility treatment management and first trimester pregnancy assessment.
NOTE: The selected candidate will not be able to provide patient care until credentialed by the Medical Staff Credentialing Committee.

Union Affiliation
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U-M Professional Nurse Council union, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
