Responsibilities*
BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY
Provide exceptional customer service and support to Breast Imaging patients, families, providers, and team members. Duties include receiving/assisting patients and families, providing check in services for Breast Imaging and X-ray patients, scheduling BI patients for appointments, answering telephone calls and process orders as needed. Candidate should expect to be cross trained on all office duties and be able to assume different roles as needed. All other duties as assigned. Position may require candidate to travel to multiple locations within Southern Michigan.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Efficiently check in Breast Imaging and General Imaging patients with correct, required paperwork.
- Ask and document the correct questions to verify patient.
- Accompany patient to dressing area and give appropriate instructions.
- Receive and assist patients, visitors, and staff.
- Accurately and efficiently schedule patients utilizing Michart.
- Identify the best available appointment type to meet the patient and clinic needs and requirements.
- Prepare paperwork for upcoming appointments.
- Verify patient requisitions are accurate and call clinics for requisitions when needed.
- Accurately interpret reports and complete proper follow-up as indicated by the radiologist.
- Request images from outside facilities
- Ensure patients completes Release of Information forms for prior imaging requests
- Open daily mail and send to appropriate location.
- Transcribe outside orders and scan into system.
- Identify and accurately send all images and reports for image requests.
- Retrieve messages and return appropriate calls.
- Handle difficult conversations with patients and families.
- High intensity patient flow must be compassionate and able to manage stressful situations.
- This position requires moderate sitting and standing as well as the ability to lift, push, and/or pull patients.
Required Qualifications*
- High School diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic computer skills.
- 1-2 years work experience in an office setting.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary clinical setting.
- Excellent attendance record.
Desired Qualifications*
- Working knowledge of Michart is preferred.
- Familiar with Medical terminology.
- Demonstrates active listening, written, verbal, and information technology skills.
Work Schedule
Dayshift, Monday - Friday, Occasional Weekends as needed.
Work Locations
Multiple locations: Including the Cancer Center, East Ann Arbor, and The Mobile unit.
