Job Summary

Provides moderate to complex assistance to patients including drawing blood, operating medical monitoring equipment, administering medications, beginning or discontinuing catheters, or administering electrocardiograms. Prepares patients for examination including surgical instrument sterilization, supply, and equipment set up. Transports patients to/from surgery. Responsibilities*

  • Perform delegated clinical or laboratory procedures.
  • Monitor, setup and maintain the operations of clinical equipment. 
  • May monitor patient status, record and document vital signs. 
  • Stock and maintain inventory of specialized areas.
  • May transport patients to and from designated locations.
  • May administer medications.
  • Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system may be required in certain areas.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Assist in patient admission and discharge procedures.
  • Obtain and record vital signs. Assist in preparing patients for procedures.
  • Assist with preparing patients for discharge.
  • Assist with maintaining unit stock. Work in MiChart.
  • Assist with front desk reception duties as needed. 
  • Adheres to high standards of teamwork by demonstrating adaptability and flexibility.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member are crucial, as well as being highly motivated and organized, with a strong desire to learn.
  • Effective time management, as well as excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Candidate will demonstrate excellent customer service skills as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Works well with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Perform point of care testing as delegated by the nursing staff.
  • Adhere to infection prevention policies by appropriately cleaning patient care bays and stretchers.
  • Assist with transporting patients via various methods including: ambulatory, wheelchair, stretcher, or bed.
  • Work as a member of the interdisciplinary team to provide support to all providers and clinical staff, as well as assist nurses with patient concerns/issues/questions.
  • Complete annual mandatory competencies.

 

Required Qualifications*

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent, ability to read and write.
  • Minimum two years' experience in in an unlicensed assistive role in a patient care setting in a nursing home or other health care environment.
  • Individual must exhibit a professional and positive image when interacting with patients, faculty and staff.
  • Must adhere to a high standard of personal and professional conduct; possess excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills; and demonstrated ability to interact with a diverse population.
  • Candidates must be able to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team, handling multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Candidate must demonstrate problem solving skills, proficient computer and keyboarding skills, and excellent attendance.
  • Candidate must be able to push, pull, and/or lift at least 25 pounds. This is a direct patient care environment and role.  

 

Desired Qualifications*

  • Previous experience in an ambulatory care clinical setting, Preop/PACU, or procedural unit.

Background Screening
