Responsibilities*

. Provide a wide variety of technical lab support, individually and/or together with other research personnel.
. Oversee the day-to-day lab operation, schedule and maintain record of lab equipment.
. Help develop, design and conduct research projects according to plan.
. Conduct experiments, collect and maintain detailed record of all experiments and data, analyze results.
. Suggest options for improving quality, identify potential problems and recommend and implement solutions.
. Collaborate in the development of new techniques.
. Train users in equipment and laboratory techniques.
. Maintain the lab inventory, ordering chemicals, biological reagents, and supplies.
. Co-author research reports, abstracts, conference presentations and manuscripts.
. Care for rats in animal experiments, involving daily handling/treating the animals when the lab is conducting this type of study.
. Supervise supporting and temporary lab personnel, assemble test, calibrate, clean or make minor repairs to equipment.

Required Qualifications*

Master's degree and 4 to 5 years related experience. The applicant must have a Bachelor's degree in science-related field and familiarity with lab instrumentation. As a team member of a research lab, the candidate should:  Have a positive outlook and be self-motivated to carry out experiments as well as to work with other lab members and the PI. Work independently and propose solutions to problems in discussions with the PI. Be meticulous in keeping/updating track record. Be very organized. Be motivated to propose and co-author scientific presentations and publications. Excellent communications skills.  Excellent attendance record.

Work Locations

This position is for the School of Dentistry located at 1011 N. University Ave.

Additional Information

This is a one-year term limited appointment, with the possibility of renewal based on continued available funding.
