Job Summary
This is an hourly position for a current UM-Dearborn graduate student in good academic standing able to commit to working with the Office of Graduate Studies through at least April 2026. The compensation rate for the position is $15 per hour. Hours may vary based on time of year, though an average of 15 hours can be expected. Prefer candidate able to work in minimum of two hour time blocks. Some weekday evening hours should be expected though they can be scheduled around classes.
Responsibilities*
Assist with a variety of recruiting initiatives (may include contacting prospective students via phone or email, assisting with virtual info sessions, etc.)
- Present overview of graduate school experience and general facts concerning UM-Dearborn from the student perspective
- Present basic knowledge of degree options, practicum/field experience options, and graduate student support services from student perspective
- Answer prospective student questions or direct inquiries to responsible staff member
- Conduct group graduate prospective student visits/tours on a weekly schedule or by appointment
- Provide follow-up to prospective students after group visits
- Assist with yield initiatives (calls, emails, special events) for admitted students
Recruitment Event Responsibilities:
- Attend and participate in campus recruitment events
- Assist with the recruitment of graduate student volunteers when needed
- Provide administrative support in preparation of recruitment events (i.e. help create name badges, stuff information packets, etc.)
- Directly interface with prospective student attendees answering questions
- Participate on student panels and give presentations as needed
Blog Responsibilities:
- Under the guidance of supervisor, compose written blog entries or video blogs (vlogs) each semester on varying topics related to student life
Office Responsibilities:
- Assist with updating and maintaining various admissions databases, materials, and forms
- Additional duties or project work as assigned

- Current graduate degree-seeking student at UM-Dearborn in good academic standing
- Demonstrate initiative in promoting UM-Dearborn to future graduate students and their families
- Enthusiastically represent UM-Dearborn and contribute to the success of the Graduate Admissions team
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with students from diverse backgrounds
- Strong public speaking skills, writing skills, and professional, approachable demeanor
- Proficiency in database management systems, MS Office, CRM systems
- Strong organizational skills and ability to complete multiple projects with overlapping deadlines
- Must follow confidentiality guidelines when handling private and personal information
- Desire to assist others and provide excellent customer service as an individual and as part of a team
