LSA Human Resources is seeking well-qualified applicants to join their Human Resource Transaction Team as an HR Employment Records and Operations Specialist. Join seven other passionate HR professionals on a cohesive, collaborative team that delivers operational excellence to faculty, staff, and students on a day-to-day basis. Each team member is assigned specific units for which they will provide dedicated HR support, including processing PARs (Personnel Action Requests or HR Transactions), new hire paperwork, and eRecruit (applicant management system) processing. All team members report to the LSA HR Transaction Team Supervisor.
 

What You'll Do

  • Complete new hire process for instructional, tenure-track, research, regular, and temporary staff including job postings, job offers, background checks, and employment paperwork. Use PeopleSoft technology and best practices, ensuring compliance with unit, College, and UM HR policies and procedures.
  • Develop a collaborative relationship with assigned units to facilitate and prepare HR paperwork to add or modify appointment details. Coordinate transactional processes between LSA and University Departments.
  • Maintain an organized tracking status throughout each transaction, following up to ensure satisfactory completion. Address departmental inquiries quickly and accurately.
  • Prepare draft offer letters for instructional staff including lecturers and graduate student instructors. Includes processing and tracking for appointment and reappointment of instructional staff on a term-by-term basis using appropriate methods.
  • Assist other team members with our work, especially during peak times.
  • Participate in ongoing process improvement efforts including using new technology and documenting best practices.
  • Proficiency in prioritizing job responsibilities throughout the day.
  • Proficiency in both independent work and collaborating in a team environment.

Skills You Have

  • 2-3 years of administrative experience in Human Resources or administrative operations
  • Proficiency in writing clear and succinct communications including email and business letters
  • Commitment to providing quality employee experiences along with the ability to build positive relationships within a heterogeneous community
  • Experience and competence working with technology such as HR Information Systems, Excel, Word, and Google Drive
     

Desired Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Experience providing HR support for unionized employees

Work Locations

This position is currently 100% remote but at a future date the work location may be located in Ann Arbor on the university campus. An opportunity to work at our on-campus office location is also available.
