Job Summary
The Department of Cardiac Surgery is seeking a summer research intern to support ongoing studies focused on post-operative outcomes in pediatric cardiac surgery patients.
- Gather data to meet specific project objectives by using various informational resources.
- Analyze data to determine trends, discrepancies and conclusions.
- Provide accurate, organized data input and report generation.
- Create charts and graphs from data as needed.
- Assist study personnel as needed.
In this role, the selected candidate will have the opportunity to:
- Develop an understanding of administrative and research processes/procedures in an academic medical center.
- Learn medical and research terminology, gain communication skills experience, and work in a professional medical setting.
- Interact with experienced study investigators, coordinators, and office administrative personnel.
- Gain exposure to various software programs, including EMR system (EPIC).
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree, preferably with a pre-medical or life sciences focus.
- Prior clinical research experience is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively within a team environment.
- Ability to multi-task and sustain a high level of organization.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Punctual, reliable, and detail oriented.
Desired Qualifications*
- Experience with e-Research, MiChart (EPIC), and electronic data entry.
- Prior experience working in a healthcare setting.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology.

Background Screening
