Responsibilities*
- Maintain transgenic and mutant mouse colony.
- Provide research assistance and design experiments, including following: animal surgeries with tissue dissections; human and animal tissue fixation and sectioning; immunohistochemical staining of tissues; digital microscopy; gene expression by qRT-PCR; performing RNA/DNA isolation, and cell culture experiments.
- Provide technical assistance in operation and calibration of instrumentation and other research equipment, and ensure equipment is operating according to specifications. Oversight of IACUC and OSEH standards for the laboratory. Maintain lab supplies and stocks.
- Train and supervise part-time undergraduate research assistants and volunteers in a lab. Train users in equipment operation and laboratory techniques.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelors degree
- 1-3 years of experience in a biomedical research field and demonstrated ability to execute the duties described is required.
- Basic laboratory techniques and experience are required. Computer skills including Excel for database management and record keeping, Photoshop, and proficiency with using digital microscopy are required.
- The candidate must be willing to work with laboratory tissue samples including human and mouse handling and mouse surgical manipulations. Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with others in a collaborative environment is essential.
Desired Qualifications*
- Master degree would be highly desirable. Working with live animals and tissue, biopsy samples, histological sample preparation, RNA/DNA isolation, qRT-PCR and immunohistochemistry/immunofluorescence techniques are considered a plus.

Background Screening
