Job Summary
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Von Voigtlander Women’s Clinic provides consultation, comprehensive treatment and a broad range of services and procedures for patients with normal and high-risk pregnancies and for a broad range of gynecologic services. The clinic team includes physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, medical assistants, social workers, dieticians, as well as a multifunctional administrative/clerical team.

Responsibilities*
Provide culturally sensitive, age-specific nursing care within a team-based care model to patients seen at the Von Voigtlander OBGYN Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic. The Von Voigtlander OBGYN Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic provides high risk care to pregnant patients experiencing, but not limited to:
- Maternal cardiac disease
- Complex multiples
- Growth restriction
- Genetic complications
- Preterm labor or a history of preterm delivery
- Addiction disorders
- Diabetes (type 1, type 2, gestational diabetes)
- Multiple miscarriages
- Seizures
- Lupus
- Cancer
- Placenta accreta spectrum disorders
- Fetal anomalies
- Knowledge and appropriate use of internal and external resources.
- Provide functional supervision to assistive personnel; collaborate with colleagues, other disciplines, and health care/community services to promote continuity of care.
- Clinical duties include:
- Use clinical knowledge and reasoning, and critical thinking to assess and evaluate the needs of OBGYN and Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) patients.
- Work collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, and ancillary services to provide high quality effective patient care.
- Direct outpatient clinical support through InBasket messages and telephone triage supporting a seamless delivery of care.
- Participate in the coordination of care, including medication management, placing orders per protocol, relaying test results, completing OB intakes and post op calls, providing patient and family education, managing emergency situations that arise in clinic, and other clinical tasks assigned and indicated.
- Document care and patient progress through detailed patient records.
- Provide direct patient care within the ambulatory setting, including, but not limited to, patient assessment, patient/family education and counseling and support based on the nursing process and within role/scope of practice.
- Coordinate and manage the care of the maternal fetal medicine patients in collaboration with the health care team, including coordinating appointments, monitoring test and lab results, providing patient education and assessment throughout the pregnancy.
- Collaborate with care team to develop and provide education for patients, and to the nursing staff, students, fellows, residents, and the community.
- Perform preliminary assessment of patients through observation and chart review to facilitate appropriate follow-up with the healthcare team.
- Maintain complete and accurate patient charts throughout the pregnancy including chart preparation prior to the patient?s visit.
- Evaluate unstable or complex patient care situations and facilitates appropriate interventions and referrals.
- Implement appropriate clinical decisions and accepts accountability of care provided by self and by healthcare providers to who care is delegated.
- Collaborate with and serve as a resource to the clinical team, including social workers, OBGYN nurses, clerical team, and physicians regarding patient care.
- Evaluate effectiveness of patient and family teaching
- Respond to patient treatment-related phone calls and inbasket messages.
- Assist physicians with clinical activities and medical procedures, as needed.
- Supporting clinical and translational research.
- Attending and participating in conferences and continuing education/staff development programs to maintain knowledge of current literature. Provide functional supervision to assistive personnel; collaborate with colleagues, other disciplines, and health care/community services to promote continuity of care.
- Other nursing duties as assigned.

Hourly range for RSAM Competent, Registered Nurses $43.10-$67.03/ hour
Evening Shift Differential-$3.00 / hour
Night Shift Differential- $4.00 / hour

Night Shift Weekend Differential- $6.90 / hour
Charge Nurse Differential- $1.00 / hour

CLIN CARE COORD- COMPETENT.
Actual RSAM LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
RSAM levels range from CCC-COMPETENT to CCC-EXPERT TO CCC-MASTERY TO CCC- MASTERY PLUS.

Required Qualifications*
- Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Michigan
- Required Educational Requirement; applicant must meet one of the following:
1. Bachelors degree in nursing OR
2. Associate degree or diploma in Nursing and a Masters degree or higher in Nursing
- Five (5) years recent, in the past five (7) years, RN experience in an OBGYN Clinic or Labor and Delivery
- Minimum of six (6) months RN experience providing direct care to Maternal Fetal Medicine patients within an outpatient clinic including care management and blood sugar management of diabetic patients.
- 1-year recent (within the last 5 years) experience in OB telephone triage
- Current BLS Certification

Desired Qualifications*
- Greater than five (5) years OBGYN experience.
- One (1) year of additional specialty GYN ambulatory care experience in Vulvar, Peds GYN, Transgender Patients, Minimally Invasive Surgery, and Chronic Pelvic Pain
- Previous experience using clinical protocols to make decisions for adult patients and facilitating education staff when new protocols are developed or modified.
- Experience with MiChart, EPIC, Cisco Finesse, Word, and Excel
- Certification in Ambulatory Nursing
- Certification in Obstetric Nursing
Work Schedule
- Hours/Week: 40 hours (1.0 FTE)
- Shift/Hours/Days: Day shift; Monday-Friday. Hours and days may be variable (nontraditional including further weekends/holidays commitment) based on patient and volume needs.
- Location: Von Voigtlander OBGYN Clinic and other work locations as needed to support patient populations seen in other locations.
Note: All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.
