Job Summary
The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures (RLL) invites applications for a Lecturer I position in the French section of the Elementary Language Program (ELP) beginning on August 25, 2025, and runs through December 31, 2025. Mandatory Orientation for all instructors is August 18-21, 2025. The selected applicant must attend the Orientation.
With a history dating back to 1846, RLL is one of the longest-running departments in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA). We offer four undergraduate majors, four undergraduate minors, and three doctoral degrees. In addition to these degree programs, RLL's Elementary Language Program teaches the majority of UM-Ann Arbor's undergraduate students whose school or college has a language requirement.
The department has a strong commitment to supporting and inclusive community and actively seeks to teach not only the languages and cultures of France, Italy, Portugal, and Spain but also the legacy of their colonial activities across the globe. The Spanish section seeks to teach Spanish as a global language in a way that decenters Spain and offers a more expansive perspective of the Spanish speaking world.
