Job Summary
The University of Michigan School of Public Health is looking to contract two part-time, short-term research assistants with the ability to travel to schools in the Bronx to support on-site data collection for an in-school evaluation of a violence prevention program, as well as provide remote support in managing data. Possible tasks include supporting administering surveys with elementary and middle school students, supporting with interviews and focus groups, entering and managing data, and assisting with drafting and editing reports.

Responsibilities*
The successful candidates will work closely with the research team on key tasks:
- Participate in school-based data collection, including consenting, recruitment, survey administration, focus groups, and interviews, incentive tracking, and distribution
- Coordinate & participate in meetings with school administration and participants, and engage community members in research activities\
- Assist with annual progress reports and other required deliverables
Required Qualifications*
- Proficiency in Spanish
- Experience working with children
- Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research methods
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative to perform needed tasks within the identified scope of work
- Demonstrated reliability and professionalism
- Experienced with Microsoft Office programs (e.g., Word, Excel), Google Suite (e.g., Google Drive, Google Calendar), survey management software (e.g., Qualtrics) and comfortable learning new technologies
Modes of Work
This hybrid position will be based in New York, NY. The selected candidate must be able to travel multiple times per week, primarily during school hours (8 AM - 2 PM), for activities requiring data collection in the Bronx borough. Increased availability (approximately 10-25 hours in schools per week) is required from October - December of 2025 and April - June of 2026.
