Job Summary
The Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (OGPS) within the Medical School is looking to hire an Access, Success, and Engagement (ASE) Program Manager. This position promotes student learning and development by managing and facilitating activities that support belonging, access, success, and engagement within the Medical School. The Access, Success, and Engagement Program Manager reports to the Associate Director of Professional Development and Trainee Support
The duties and responsibilities for this position can be categorized into five main domains, applying specialized knowledge in cultural competencies and leadership development.
1. Developing and managing ASE weekly programs and facilitating workshops.
2. Managing and facilitating workshop requests across the Medical School and campus.
3. Managing the activities for the Post-baccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP).
4. Managing special projects.
5. Overseeing the general administration and budget management of the ASE portfolio.

Responsibilities*
20% ASE Weekly Programming
- Develop, manage, and facilitate ASE workshops using domain-specific knowledge and expertise on cultural competencies and leadership development.
- Lead and organize the monthly cultural and heritage awareness and celebration campaigns and events.
- Oversee and advise the student groups and organizations within OGPS.
- Support groups and organizations with planning and implementing events as necessary.
- Establish overall event needs and partner with the OGPS Event Coordinator to coordinate logistics for events and activities.
- Establish overall communication needs and plans, and partner with the Communication Specialist to coordinate communication and marketing strategies.
20% Programming Collaboration and Outreach
- Collaborates with offices and groups across campus to provide workshops on personal and cultural competencies using domain-specific expertise.
- Establish relationships with Medical School departments and programs to raise awareness of ASE programming for special workshop requests and collaboration opportunities.
- Develops, manages, and facilitates topical workshops and sessions requested by Medical School departments and programs. Tailors content as needed based on each request.
- Partners with the OGPS Event Coordinator to coordinate logistics for events and activities.
20% PREP Administration and Advising
- Manages the activities and events for the Post-baccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP).
- Partner with the OGPS Event Coordinator regarding the logistics of events and activities
- Manage the community-building and volunteering events for the PREP scholars.
- Manage the agendas and scheduling for the PREP administrative team meetings.
- Collaborate with the PREP director in establishing a sustainability plan for future PREP cohorts and the recruiting process.
- Collaborate with the PREP director on the PREP curriculum and advising PREP trainees.
20% Special Projects
- Responsible for the overall management, performance, and completion of ad hoc special projects related to the team's work.
- Apply expertise and knowledge to develop new projects based on trainee needs and OGPS priorities.
- Collaborate with various team members on projects.
- Achieve professional development opportunities.
- Serve on staff committees.
20% General Administration
- Serve as a point of contact for the ASE team and its programs.
- Responsible for communications and correspondence with potential students/learners, current students/learners, faculty, and alumni.
- Partner with the Communication Specialist to review and update program-related content on the website and marketing materials.
- Monitor budget
- Ensures timely expense tracking and reconciliation following events.
- Complete ad hoc administrative tasks.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications*
- One of the following:
- Master's degree and at least two (2) years of equivalent full-time work experience
- Bachelor's degree and at least five (5) years of equivalent full-time work experience
- Associate's Degree and at least seven (7) years of equivalent full-time work experience
- 2+ years of full-time experience in student and academic affairs, services, administration, or similar functional areas
- 2+ years of full-time experience managing projects or event planning
Desired Qualifications*
- Master's degree in Higher Education or a related field
- 2+ years of full-time experience with facilitation, teaching, or curriculum design
- 2+ years of full-time experience with student advising or coaching
- 2+ years of full-time experience with student engagement and success
Work Schedule
- This is a full-time position.
- The anticipated work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
Modes of Work
This position operates on a hybrid schedule, with at least 2 days a week spent in the office. The position is expected to be in the office during in-person events.
Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.
Additional Information
The minimum salary for this HR job title is $64,330. The anticipated starting salary range is $65,000 - $70,000. A higher salary may be offered based on qualifications, years of experience, and benchmarking with other Michigan Medicine employees with the same job title and responsibilities. The maximum salary is $102,930. At Michigan Medicine, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the maximum salary.
Selected candidates whose start date at the University is after December 31 will not be eligible for the Medical School?s upcoming salary/merit plan unless otherwise notified.
