This role is on-site in Ann Arbor, MI. The work schedule will include weekdays and weekends and may follow either an evening or daytime shift. Sample schedules include Tuesday through Saturday, 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM, or Sunday through Thursday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. A shift premium is available for qualifying evening shifts. What You'll Do

The Facilities Assistant I supports the daily operations and maintenance of the Ross School of Business facilities. Responsibilities include general cleaning, basic maintenance tasks, and providing logistical support for classrooms and events. You will also help address facilities-related inquiries and respond to safety, security, and emergency situations. You will report directly to the Building Manager.

Responsibilities*

Building Support (50%) 

  • Help with the upkeep, cleanliness, and overall maintenance of the Ross School of Business complex to provide a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all users. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Maintain cleanliness and monitor the condition of the building's interior and exterior spaces, reporting damage, safety concerns, or needed repairs to the Facility Supervisor. 
    • Clean public areas such as restrooms, meeting rooms, study spaces, and offices during building hours to ensure they remain presentable and ready for use. 
    • Perform detailed cleaning of furniture, doors, walls, stairwells, and glass surfaces to eliminate smudges, stains, and other visible debris. 
    • Maintain exterior spaces including patios, outdoor furniture, building facades, pillars, ramps, and walkways, keeping them free of leaves, litter, and other debris as needed. 
  • Monitor classrooms, conference rooms, study rooms, and open circulation spaces, verify rooms/spaces are in proper condition for the next activity. 
  • Help with school recycling & compost programs. 
  • Assist with office moves. 
  • Ensure the building is opened in the morning, including cleanliness and ensuring doors are unlocked according to schedule. 
  • Ensure the building is closed in the evening, including returning furniture to proper locations, clearing guests from the facility and ensuring doors are locked according to schedule. 

Event Support (45%) 

  • Support events, large proceedings, student activities and other happenings throughout the business school complex, including moving and setting up furniture based on room diagrams 
  • Ensure event spaces are clean before, during, and after activities. 
  • Assist event coordinators with final event modifications while ensuring coordinators are aware of guidelines for room usage. 
  • Make room and equipment reservations promptly. 
     

Miscellaneous Operations Support 5% 

  • Help with mail delivery. 
  • Help with basic maintenance tasks, such as changing batteries. 
  • Respond to all medical, fire, and tornado emergencies. Engage with public safety in any emergency. 
     

Required Qualifications*

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required. 
  • Minimum one year of customer service experience. 
  • Minimum one year working in a team environment. 
  • Must be available to work nights and weekends. 

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Additional Information

Salary Information: 
The posting range for this position is $37,700 to $44,300. This posting range reflects multiple factors involved in determining compensation, such as skills, experience, training, certifications, and other organizational needs. At Ross, it is not common for new hires to be offered a salary at the upper end of the range. Compensation decisions are based on the details of each situation.
