Salary range for RSAM (Role-Specific Advancement Model) RNs: $89,650.46-$145,592.10 per year
- Evening Shift Differential - $3.00 per hour
- Night Shift Differential - $4.00 per hour
- Weekend Differential - $2.90 per hour

Responsibilities*
- Care coordination for patients and families on the adult inpatient psychiatric unit
- Assist with nursing care to psychiatric patients
- Collaborate with other health team members and associated resource persons to ensure continuity of care across all care environments
- Assist in the development and implementation of competencies, protocols, and patient education tools to improve patient care
- Participate and assist with ongoing research
- Participate in the psychiatric unit team meetings to continually improve processes
- Provide care coordination for patients and families on the inpatient units in collaboration with the treatment team and case management
- Develop and deliver formal and informal educational presentations to peer groups, medical staff, and other interdisciplinary groups based on pertinent topics
- Collaborate with other health team members and associated resource persons to ensure continuity of care across all care environments
- Assist in the development and implementation of competencies, protocols, and staff & patient education tools to improve patient outcomes and care
- Screen medical/surgical patients with comorbid diagnoses for admission to 9C
Professional Development
- Attend relevant competency training, staff development in-services and conferences to maintain and improve knowledge base, competency and skills
- Attend relevant professional and/or leadership development opportunities
- Keep records and document evidence of attendance
Expectations of the Position
- Extensive knowledge regarding psychiatric care is a critical skill the candidate must possess for this position
- Candidate must possess high level critical thinking skills and clinical judgment to care for psychiatric patients
- Candidate must demonstrate strong self-initiative, be able to function with a minimum of supervision and be highly motivated to provide excellent care and patient advocacy
- Strong advocate of the nursing practice related to acute psychiatric nursing
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Comprehensive understanding of the RN scope of practice
- Demonstrated expertise in communication and problem solving skills with all levels of the health care team
- Ability to integrate and communicate clinical information quickly and effectively
This position reports directly to the Clinical Nursing Director of 9C.

Actual RSAM LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
RSAM levels range from CCC-COMPETENT NE to CCC-EXPERT NE to CCC-MASTERY NE.

Required Qualifications*
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan
- Bachelors of Science in Nursing from an accredited nursing program
- Five to seven (5-7) years of direct patient care experience
- A minimum of two (2) years of recent inpatient psychiatric experience
- Experience with and knowledge of medically complex patients
- Extensive knowledge about psychiatric care and complex behavioral presentations is critical for this position
- Experience with effective de-escalation strategies and interventions
- Demonstrated knowledge of psychotherapeutic modalities effective in treating psychiatric and behavioral symptoms and disorders

Desired Qualifications*
- Experience in the utilization of acute psychiatric de-escalation strategies
- Demonstrated knowledge of cognitive behavioral treatment of depression and other psychiatric disorders
- Experience with the comorbid Psychiatric/Medical/Surgical population
- ANCC Certification in Psychiatry
- Experience in Fall prevention strategies
- Master’s degree in Nursing
