Job Summary

The Buyer Intermediate role will successfully manage inventory in the Cardiac Procedures Unit (CPU) and Pediatric Cardiology to ensure the Right Product, Right Quantity, Right Place and Right Time occurs to meet clinical needs.  This role manages the day-to-day use of high dollar supplies including preparation of orders, follow-up to expedite delivery and shipments, and checks and approves invoices for orders placed. The supplies needed are for complex cardiac procedures which require interactions with staff, physicians, administration, and vendors.  The Buyer will maintain necessary records and files for efficient operations and is a resource for problem solving with supply changes and shortages.

Responsibilities*

  • Manage multiple services (product lines) of clinical inventory necessary to support CPU and specialties. 
  • Analyzes data from multiple system interfaces to diligently plan, submit and track inventory orders.
  • Ensure that supplies are received and inventoried in a timely and effective basis to meet service level targets.
  • Source and procure substitutions for backordered/unavailable items.
  • Track of backorders and effectively communicates pertinent information to clinical partners.
  • Work closely with clinicians on a regular basis to support daily operations and manage complex conditions.
  • Ensure the integrity of information in the various systems utilized by the supply chain team is correct and optimally configured to accomplish the supply chain objectives. 
  • Direct and collaborate with assigned analyst(s) to reduce inventory variation, improve costs and improve the service we provide. 
  • Track and achieve assigned supply chain goals/key performance indicators.
  • Support the institution on projects, initiatives and other tasks as needed.
  • Provide backup to other buyers within the department.
  • Directly work with vendors and manufacturers regarding all facets of inventory; billing reconciliation, item changes, consignment levels, supply concerns, order tracking, warranty, packaging, recalls and more. 
  • Ensure items  used in clinical cases have been recorded and billed appropriately.
  • Regularly coordinate with cross functional departments primarily for issue resolution information, coordination and project planning.
  • Configure optimum OR inventory plans and execution for assigned categories- locations, racking, labeling, flow, PAR levels, lead time, material flow.
  • Establish relationships, maintain effective communication and collaborate with clinicians and leadership teams. 

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelors Degree in relevant field or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Intermediate: Minimum of three years of experience in the supply chain industry.
  • Associate: 0 - 2 years of experience in the supply chain industry.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High degree of problem solving skills and analytical thinking.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • High degree of reliability.
  • Commitment, tenacity, teamwork and creative energy.
  • Proficiency in MS Office with proven excel spreadsheet skills. 

Work Schedule

Full time, 40 hours per week, 8:00a - 4:30p

Background Screening
