Responsibilities*
- Assist with patient intake, preparation, and transport ( Ambulatory, wheelchair, stretcher )
- Assist with patient mobility and transfer, including the use of assistive devices
- Measure and record vital signs, weights, and point of care testing, and document in the EMR
- Prepare procedure rooms, prepare stretchers, and clean rooms/bays pre- & post-procedure
- Position patients appropriately pre- and intra-procedure
Technical Duties
- Select and quality - check appropriate procedural equipment and accessories
- Set up, troubleshoot, and assist with procedural equipment and accessories
- Manage and troubleshoot equipment required for procedures
- Retrieve and download images from EMR to procedural equipment
- Maintain compliance with regulatory standards related to equipment and supply management i.e., procedural equipment cabinets, and storage.
Administrative & Team Support
- Communicate patient care concerns with the interdisciplinary team
- Maintain inventory and stock supplies
- Participate in unit-based committees
- Training and mentoring staff
- May participate in monthly regulatory compliance reviews/report identified concerns
- Perform other duties as assigned, quality-check
Required Qualifications*
High School diploma, GED or equivalent, and one of the following:- Graduation from a accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent combination of education and patient care experience
- A minimum 1 year of recent experience in an unlicensed assistive role in a patient care setting
- Completion of a clinical year of a nursing program
- Relevant military Medic experience
- EMT/Paramedic
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
- Proficient computer and keyboarding skills.
Desired Qualifications*
- Previous experience in a ambulatory care clinical setting, Preop/PACU, or procedural unit
- Familiarly with Epic or similar EMR systems
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant
Work Schedule
M-Rotating Saturdays and evenings ( UH MPU) On-call responsibilities for weekend procedures (UH MPU) Monday - Friday ( rotating) variable start timesModes of Work

Union Affiliation
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
