Job Summary

PSS is seeking dependable and detail-oriented research assistants who have experience working with children and are available for in-person work. All research assistants need to be able to adhere to strict study protocols and be sensitive to working with vulnerable populations. This would be an ideal position for someone seeking clinical research experience and pursuing psychology, social work, public health, or medicine.

Responsibilities*

We are recruiting assistants to administer a standardized brief stress task, to provide childcare to participants, and to help with study tasks.

Required Qualifications*

  • Must have availability for in-person tasks at least two days a week from 11am-3pm. More availability is strongly preferred, and priority will be given to applicants with flexible schedules 
  • Applicants interested in a two-semester research position are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Most RAs work an average of 4-5 hours a month
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from our office (located at 4250 Plymouth Road in Ann Arbor) 
  • Compensation commensurate with experience

This is an in person position located at Rachel Upjohn Building, 4250 Plymouth Road in Ann Arbor, MI.

Additional Information

This is a term-limited appointment as the funding structure ends 4/30/2026. At the end of the stated term, your appointment will terminate, and you will not be eligible for Reduction-in-Force (RIF) benefits. This term-limited appointment does not create a contract or guarantee of employment for any period of time as you will remain subject to disciplinary or other performance measures, up to and including termination, at the will of the University in accordance with existing University policy and standards for employee performance and conduct.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third-party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.

In addition to the screenings indicated above under Michigan law, a criminal history check including fingerprinting is required as a condition of transfer or employment for this position.
