Do you enjoy working with technology and helping people solve problems? Join the ITS team at UM-Dearborn as a part-time Servicedesk Technician!

In this role, you'll be the first point of contact for tech support across campus; answering questions, troubleshooting issues, and keeping our labs and classrooms running smoothly. You'll also assist with hardware maintenance, software setup, and hands-on tasks like organizing supplies and supporting A/V equipment.

No prior tech experience? No problem! We provide training! All you need is strong communication skills, a willingness to learn, and a problem-solving mindset.
 

Responsibilities*

ServiceDesk Technicians provide technical support for campus IT infrastructure to all university affiliates via various channels. Their responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Handle Tier-1 Service Desk calls and chats, assisting with login issues, software guidance, and general troubleshooting.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with Windows/Mac OS, printers, VoIP phones, A/V equipment, and network connectivity.
  • Perform deskside visits to assist faculty and staff with hardware, software, and connectivity problems.
  • Reimage and configure computer systems for deployment; install and update hardware/software in offices, classrooms, and labs.
  • Respond to classroom A/V emergencies and restore functionality quickly.
  • Document, assign, and escalate IT issues using a Ticketing Application.
  • Check, test, and maintain classroom and lab technology, including cleaning setups and organizing equipment and furniture.
     

Required Qualifications*

University of Michigan student with a customer service background and familiarity with Windows, Apple, and mobile devices. Skilled in device installation, organization, and communication. Flexible and adaptable to work in teams or independently.

Work Schedule

Work shifts are scheduled between 8am- 8pm Monday - Thursday, and 8am ? 5pm Fridays. Shifts will be scheduled according to openings in your school schedule and will not change week-to-week. 

Modes of Work

Additional Information

May require working non-standard hours. Schedule subject to change. Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance is required.
