Job Summary

The University Hospital Outpatient Physical Therapy team is in the heart of the main University of Michigan Hospital. We serve a diverse patient population, including U-M staff and faculty, students, as well as the broader community. Our clinic specializes in treating spine/orthopedic conditions, TMJ dysfunction, balance/falls, and vestibular disorders. We support a collaborative, growth-oriented environment where patient access and high-quality care is our top priority.

Responsibilities*

  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care
  • Collaborate with Physical Therapists to ensure continuity and quality of care
  • Apply clinical decision-making to adapt to progress treatment within the established plan of care
  • Document care clearly, concisely and in a timely manner
  • Stay current with best practices and continuing education in physical therapy

Required Qualifications*

  • Physical Therapist Assistant Associate's degree from an accredited program 
  • Current licensure as a PTA in the State of Michigan
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification
  • This position requires Primary Source Verification

Work Schedule

Full time (40 hours per week). Specific hours are to be determined. Clinic hours are Monday-Friday 7am-5:30pm

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Union Affiliation

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
