Job Summary
Conferences & Events has an immediate opening for a Conferences & Events - Event Supervisor. This position will report to the Director of Conferences and Events. The Event Supervisor is responsible for overseeing event setup and teardown, audio visual, and on-site event management. This position indirectly supervises student Event Staff.
Working nights and weekends is required. Appointment is part-time, 30 hours per week. Schedule is flexible based on event needs of the department.
Regular schedule is:
- Monday 3p-9p (1/2 hour lunch period)
- Tuesday 3p-9p (1/2 hour lunch period)
- Wednesday 12p-9p (1 hour lunch period)
- Thursday 3p-9p (1/2 hour lunch period)
- Friday 3p-9p (1/2 hour lunch period)
Responsibilities*
Manage Events at UM-Flint
- On-site event management
- Event setup, teardown management
- Audio/visual setup, teardown and operation for events
- Effectively communicate and enforce university policies
- Provide problem resolution and customer service with facility users
- Complete accurate and thorough facilities reports
Building/Space Supervision
- Inspect building facilities and equipment, process work orders and follow up
- Assist with weather and fire emergencies where needed
- Inventory supplies and equipment
- Ensure that CAE spaces are secured properly
Student Temp Event Supervision
- Oversee student temp Event Staff
- Ensure that proper equipment handling techniques are followed
- Check daily task list items to ensure that tasks are completed accurately and efficiently
Required Qualifications*
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One or more years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities listed.
Essential Job Functions
- Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 50 pounds for various event needs. Must be able to perform all of the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

Modes of Work
Onsite
The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence. Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan.
