Job Summary

Assist Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Athletic Trainers, and Physical Therapy Assistants in the delivery of patient treatment programs and associated functions. As a member of the CMC Therapy team, the duties you perform are essential for the efficient and effective operation of the clinic.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires extensive standing/walking, as well as lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring of patients.

Responsibilities*

  • Prepare treatment area, mobility equipment, exercise equipment, and/or ambulatory aids for patient care.
  • Transfer patients to and from exercise equipment or treatment mats/tables/beds.
  • Perform treatment procedures in accordance with programs planned by the Physical or Occupational Therapist.
  • Provides additional physical assistance during the provision of patient care.
  • Participates in ongoing maintenance programs for patient care equipment.
  • Responsible for inventory and maintaining a sufficient quantity of treatment supplies.
  • Transport patients as needed.
  • Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system may be required in certain areas.
  • Assist therapists with serial casting.
  • Act as patient chaperone.
  • Assist with return to sport testing
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications*

  • A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to understand and communicate information both orally and in writing is necessary.

Desired Qualifications*

  • An interest in working with patients in physical or occupational therapy is desirable.
  • Experience or degree in movement science, pre-physical therapy, pre-athletic training or pre-physician assistant programs.

Work Schedule

Monday thru Friday; some evenings required. This position is located at the Brighton Center for Specialty Care.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.

Background Screening
