The Center for Entrepreneurship (CFE) is looking for a proactive, organized, and enthusiastic Administrative Coordinator to play a key role in supporting our mission to unlock the full entrepreneurial potential of students, faculty, and researchers.
In this highly visible and rewarding role, you'll serve as the first point of contact for the CFE, helping create a welcoming, professional, and inclusive environment for the more than 3,000 students and 600+ faculty we support each year through our academic, entrepreneurial practice, and technology acceleration programs.
Reporting to the Unit Administrator, you'll collaborate with a passionate, forward-thinking team and provide essential support across administrative, financial, HR, and event operations. Responsibilities*
Lead Office Support
- Serve as the first point of contact for the CFE, creating a warm, welcoming, and professional atmosphere for students, faculty, and guests.
- Manage the CFE's main phone line and main email address, ensuring prompt and helpful communication.
- Oversee office logistics, including supply management and workspace organization, to keep operations running smoothly.
Executive Director Support
- Serve as the administrative partner to the CFE Executive Director, providing calendar and meeting management, preparing agendas and materials, and anticipating needs to ensure leadership priorities move forward efficiently.
- Manage and reconcile travel arrangements and expenses.
Financial Coordination
- Manage purchasing and financial transactions across the CFE, including purchase orders, travel reimbursements, PeoplePay (payments to individuals for services), purchasing card reconciliations, and accounts receivable.
- Collaborate with Procurement Services and the Shared Services Center to ensure timely and compliant financial processing.
- Track expenditures, resolve discrepancies, and support account reconciliation.
HR Support
- Provide administrative support for HR processes, including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and timekeeping.
- Coordinate the recruitment and hiring process for student and non-student temporary employees.
- Support the annual lecturers' review process.
Administrative & Event Support
- Plan and coordinate CFE meetings, events, and programs that engage students, faculty, and partners across campus and beyond.
- Maintain a master calendar of CFE activities and events.
- Support special projects and provide administrative support to ensure the smooth execution of key initiatives.
- Build strong relationships with administrative staff across departments to share best practices and deliver exceptional service.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible administrative experience.
- 3+ years of professional experience in an administrative support role.
- Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated professionalism and discretion in handling sensitive information.
Desired Qualifications*
- Knowledge of University of Michigan and College of Engineering policies, procedures, and systems.
- Familiarity with U-M's financial and HR systems.
Modes of Work
Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.
On average, you will be expected to work four days each week on campus and one day off-site.
