Job Summary

The application reviewer needs the skills to quickly assess the quality of an applicant within the context of their academic and employment environment. The Admissions Office uses a holistic multiple-read model to evaluate applications, and the application reviewer completes the first read.

The Law School typically receives about 6000 applications for a target class of 300-320 first-year JD students. Application reviewers are expected to read applications at the rate of 5 applications per hour.

Application reviewers will work closely with the Senior Assistant Dean. The position will require occasional meetings with the Senior Assistant Dean and other application review specialists for ongoing training and calibration, and to ensure consistency in the review process.

**Please note this is a part-time temporary position which runs through the end of March 2026**
 

Responsibilities*

Review, evaluate, and make recommendations on a high volume of applications for first-year law study, using an online appltcation evaluation process in accordance with University and Law School guidelines, policies, and procedures. Provide a written assessment of each application in a timely fashion, including evaluation of subjective and objective information.

Required Qualifications*

Bachelor's degree. Strong oral and written communication skills; excellent analytical skills; strong attention to detail; proven good judgment and record of discretion and confidentiality. Ability to quickly read and absorb information, and ability to review and evaluate written material. Demonstrated ability to be flexible and respond to feedback. Proficient and comfortable with working independently on computers and with a variety of applications. including familiarity and experience with Windows-based computer programs. Must be able to work independently in a remote work setting.

Desired Qualifications*

Advanced degree preferred. Familiarity with legal settings and with selective higher education institutions is helpful.
