Job Summary

The Department of Family Medicine is seeking a highly motivated and organized person, with excellent multi-tasking, communication, and research skills to join our research team. This Research Assistant position will primarily recruit and schedule participants for a 12-month study of heart health in Family Medicine clinics. The characteristic duties and responsibilities of this position involve research participant interaction (recruitment, consenting, scheduling visits) management of day-to-day study activities, and data collection. The individual will work closely with the Research Coordinator and Principal Investigator to ensure participant recruitment and retention, and general study needs.

Responsibilities*

  • Monitor and keep the research team informed on daily progress of the study including recruitment, enrollment, and data collection
  • Conduct all necessary daily study activities including recruiting participants, enrollment, and study visit scheduling
  • Sending text and email reminders to participants
  • Monitor and track the lending and return of blood pressure devices with participants
  • Monitor and respond to participant questions and concerns via text, call, or email as they arise at enrollment and throughout the study
  • Ensure the study follows institutional and protocol specific requirements

Required Qualifications*

  • One (1) to two (2) years relevant work experience in human subject research
  • Candidate must have professional demeanor and excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to receive and convey information clearly and concisely (verbal and written)
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse racial, cultural, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic, and ability backgrounds
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite

Desired Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • Experience with Epic electronic medical records (i.e. MiChart)
  • Experience with data entry on REDCap
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience with research study management

Additional Information

Compensation: The research assistant will be compensated at an hourly rate commensurate with experience. 

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
