Assistant Professor Tenure-Track Faculty Position
The University of Michigan College of Pharmacy (U-M CoP), Department of Clinical Pharmacy (DCP) seeks qualified candidates for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor to broaden existing scholarship within the college and the U-M community. This position is supported in partnership with the Michigan Program for Advancing Cultural Transformation (M-PACT) which aims to transform academic culture to build a self-reinforcing community of scientists committed to promoting health equity and excellence to ensure quality health to ALL. M-PACT is funded by the NIH Faculty Institutional Recruitment for Sustainable Transformation (FIRST) grant program.
Program Areas of research and teaching can be broad and may include, but are not limited to:
- Pharmacoepidemiology
- Clinical translational research to discover or refine therapeutic approaches
- Health informatics and data science approaches to transforming clinical practice
- Health services research to understand and improve clinical practice and outcomes
- The above topics applied to specific practice areas within populations such as pregnancy, pediatrics, geriatrics, or other health issues.
- We especially welcome scholars who have demonstrated a commitment to translating research into practice.
This position is part of a new faculty cluster hire from M-PACT in the Biomedical and Health Sciences at the University of Michigan that will hire 30 new tenure-track assistant professors into three interdisciplinary research clusters: Basic Biomedical Research; Clinical-Translational Research; and Social and Behavioral Research to build a sustainable scientific community that aims to strengthen the capacity of those who serve as catalysts for change in academic and healthcare environments.
The successful candidate will have 75% protected research time for their first 5 years and will be expected to build an independent, externally funded research program. Teaching and service expectations will be defined in collaboration with the Department Chair. Candidates should demonstrate the potential for or experience with leadership in research and professional activities, including publication, research funding, participation in collaborative and interdisciplinary initiatives, and service to the College, University, and broader academic community. They must be able to articulate how their research, teaching, and/or service activities will support the College's mission.
Eligibility Requirements
- A terminal degree in a relevant area (e.g. Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.D., D.PH.) conferred by July 1, 2026.
- Has a strong research background in an area of clinical pharmacy and translational sciences.
- A demonstrated track-record of promoting health equity within their field of study through their own research, teaching/mentoring, and/or service activities as well as a commitment to continue to promote health equity in the future through these and/or other activities.
- Have never had a tenure-track faculty appointment in an institution of higher education.
- Is currently and will continue to be eligible for NIH funding throughout their time in the program.
