Job Summary
The Department of Recreational Services is seeking student and non-student staff to lead training sessions in the Recreation Center. Openings include Personal Trainer. Shifts may be days or evenings, weekdays or weekends, depending on availability. Hourly wage begins at $22/hour, with higher starting wages based on prior experience.
Responsibilities*
- Train clients in a one on one or small group setting to help them achieve their fitness and wellness goals.
- Educate clients on proper and safe techniques.
- Manage scheduling directly with assigned clients.
- Provide first aid when necessary.
Required Qualifications*
- Ability to obtain First Aid, CPR/AED certification.
- Ability to obtain nationally recognized personal trainer and/or group fitness instructor certification.
- Demonstrates ability to lead an organized and safe class/training session.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Desired Qualifications*
- Current certification for fitness/exercise and/or personal training (NASM, ACSM, ACE, NETA, Zumba, Spin, etc.).
- Experience in personal training and/or teaching group fitness or wellness classes.
Modes of Work
Onsite
The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence. Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan

Background Screening
