Job Summary
The MS Azure Cloud Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, support, and optimization of Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure used by the organization. This position will serve as a key subject matter expert for all Azure-related platform services, contributing advanced cloud engineering support to internal teams. The MS Azure Cloud Engineer will collaborate with business, development, and IT stakeholders to align Azure solutions with organizational goals and regulatory requirements, ensuring best practices in performance, security, scalability, and cost management. They will also play a critical role in developing automation, monitoring solutions, and process documentation.

Responsibilities*
- Serve as subject matter expert (SME) for Azure infrastructure, including design, implementation, configuration, and support of Azure resources (IaaS, PaaS, storage, networking, security) used for end-to-end delivery of our assessment products. Create and maintain system documentation and tracking new feature releases.
- Architect and deploy scalable, secure, and cost-optimized Azure cloud environments and resources to support business and assessment application needs. Contribute to organizational cloud standards and strategy.
- Lead cloud migration projects including planning, execution, testing, and documentation for business systems moving from on-premises or other environments to Azure. Develop and maintain robust automation scripts and workflows.
- Monitor and manage Azure resources for performance, security, compliance, and operational efficiency. Proactively identify issues and implement solutions to maintain high availability and reliability of cloud services.
- Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to implement Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and governance policies. Participate in incident response and root cause analysis.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other team members. Lead knowledge-sharing sessions and cloud best practices workshops
- Maintain clear documentation for Azure architecture, processes, and procedures. Create and support disaster recovery and business continuity plans for Azure resources.

Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Azure services, architecture, and security best practices
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Azure CLI, ARM, Bicep, Terraform)
- Strong understanding of network security, IAM, and data governance in Azure
- Experience implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical projects and work cross-functionally
- Significant experience administering Azure platforms
- Experience designing, deploying, and supporting cloud-based infrastructure solutions
- Experience implementing monitoring, alerting, and automation for Azure workloads
- Experience collaborating with development and operations teams on cloud-native architecture
- Experience supporting multiple concurrent projects, adhering to high standards of accuracy and deadlines
Desired Qualifications*
- Relevant Azure/Microsoft certifications (e.g., AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-400)
- Experience with hybrid cloud (Azure + on-prem) environments
- Familiarity with container platforms (AKS, Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience supporting regulated environments (ISO 27001, NIST CSF, etc.)
- Strong analytical and project management skills
- Experience with complex migrations or cloud architecture transformations
- Familiarity with high stakes assessments
- Experience in project management
Work Locations
Michigan Language Assessment is seeking candidates located in the Midwest-Northeast corridor, specifically in metropolitan areas such as Ann Arbor, Detroit, Chicago, Indianapolis, or Columbus. This position supports a fully remote, work-from-home schedule, with occasional in-person team meetings or special events. Travel to the Ann Arbor office is expected two to four times per year.
