Hourly range for RSAM Registered Nurses $43.10-$67.03/ hour

Responsibilities*
- Professional RN with clinical knowledge specific to the multidisciplinary care of oncology and thoracic surgery, who offers individualized assistance to patients, families, and caregivers to help overcome health system barriers throughout the trajectory of their care.
- Provide coordination of nursing care, education, and support to patients and families of the Thoracic Surgery service.
- Communicate with patients, families, and caregivers at identified touchpoints in their care (i.e.: new patient appointment, testing needs, etc).
- Coordinate care pre-operatively and post-operatively for the surgical patient population, within the thoracic surgery outpatient setting
- Promote seamless and timely patient-centered care from the time of diagnoses, through the continuum of their care. (neoadjuvant, adjuvant, preoperative and post operative treatment plans).
- Provide guidance to promote positive outcomes and patient satisfaction.
- Seek out patient education materials
- Support clinical triage and new referrals to facilitate appropriate scheduling, patient needs and timely access to care in collaboration with the intake coordinators.
- Order tests, renew prescriptions, inform patients of results from testing, telephone triage (gathering information, giving instruction and answers to patients, teaching, relaying problems to MDs, and making decisions for patient to come to ER or clinic using nursing assessment skills).
- Integral member of the multidisciplinary team including tumor board discussions and follow up.
- Translate complex medical information into language patients, families, and caregivers can understand and apply.
- Assist in the development and implementation of competencies, protocols, and patient education tools to improve patient care
- Accurate and efficient documentation of nursing care.
- Knowledge and appropriate use of internal and external resources.
- Assist in the development of patient care standards in collaboration with the clinical management team
- Participate in quality improvement and/or LEAN initiatives
- Support research initiatives

- Proficiency with typing and electronic health record documentation.
- Ability to manage complex clinical issues utilizing assessment skills, protocols, and evidence-based interventions.
- Willingness to adapt to different populations within the team as patient demands require. Orientation and training would be provided for new subspecialties.

Actual RSAM LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
RSAM levels range from CCC-COMPETENT NE to CCC-EXPERT NE TO CCC-MASTERY NE or CCC-Mastery Plus NE.
Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position. Posting may be filled after the initial 5-day posting period.

Required Qualifications*
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan
- Educational Requirement: (must meet one of the following):
- Bachelors degree in Nursing OR
- Associates degree/diploma in nursing AND a Masters degree in Nursing
- Five (5) years of RN experience caring for thoracic surgery patients in the inpatient or clinic setting
- Three (3) years of Ambulatory Care experience within the last 5 years

Desired Qualifications*
- Experience as a Nurse Navigator or Clinical Care Coordinator in the last 5 years
- Current experience caring for thoracic oncology patients
- Three (3) years of Ambulatory Care Experience with telephone triage/symptom management within the last five (5) years
- Experience with patients undergoing surgical oncology experience in the last 3 years
- Two (2) or more years of recent (within the last 3 years) experience with electronic medical records, specifically EPIC
- Computer/typing skills such as Microsoft Word and Excel
Work Schedule
? Hours per week: 40 hours
? Shift: Days; Monday-Friday, may include Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays in the future if clinic hours expand. Hours may be variable based on patient and volume needs. This is not a remote position.
Location:Taubman Center- Ann Arbor with potential to work in other locations wiht expansion of division.
All employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census or department needs.
