Responsibilities*

  • Room patients and perform standard patient intake including vitals
  • Assist with minor clinical office procedures
  • Performs standard medical laboratory/Point of Care (POC) testing.
  • Administer medications/immunizations, injections as directed
  • Respond to general patient inquiries regarding treatment and clinic policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate patient care with outside health agencies.
  • May complete general administrative duties as assigned including; Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Disability and Return to Work forms, Electronic Medical Record in-basket messages, etc.
  • Complete other clinical and non-clinical duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications*

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology. 
  • Moderate standing/walking, as well as, lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients. 
Associate Level:
  • 1-3 years of experience

Assistant Level:

  • 0-1 years of experience
  • Some office experience

Desired Qualifications*

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or (RMA).
  • Experience working within a large complex health care setting.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records system.

Work Schedule

Full Time hours, 40 hours per week, weekday schedule will vary depending on location/clinic.

Includes a Saturday rotation.

Union Affiliation

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
