Responsibilities*
- Clean wound (s) before treatment is administered.
- Perform standard medical laboratory tests, including urinalysis.
- Schedule and refer patients to appointments.
- Respond to general patient inquiries regarding treatment and clinic policies and procedures.
- Coordinate patient care with outside health agencies.
- Obtain health status and medical history.
- Maintain patient files and records.
- Complete insurance forms and initiate other patient correspondence.
- Arrange for the repair of clinic equipment
- Maintain stock levels and order clinic supplies.
- Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system may be required in certain areas
Required Qualifications*
- High school diploma or GED.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
- Moderate standing/walking, as well as, lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients.
- 1-3 years of experience
Assistant Level:
- 0-1 years of experience
- Some office experience
Desired Qualifications*
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or (RMA).
- Experience working within a large complex health care setting.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records system.
- Ability to walk long distances throughout the hospital daily and frequently.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work well with a team setting.
- Communicates effectively and has strong accountability and diversity with multiple roles.
- Demonstrated active listening, written, verbal and information technology skills.
Work Schedule
Part Time hours, 20 hours per week, weekday schedule will vary depending on location/clinic.
Must be able to work 20 hours between Monday - Friday schedule.
May be occasional weekends.

This posting is for all part time, Medical Assistant/Associate positions within Michigan Medicine.

Union Affiliation
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
