Responsibilities*

  • Assist with and may perform specialty-specific diagnostic tests such as: electrocardiograms, Fine Needle Aspirations, Fibro Scans, basic Spirometry, Skin Tests, Diagnostic monitoring,
  • Holter Monitor assistance, vision related testing including visual fields, contact lens trainings, intra ocular injection preps, scanning of the retina.
  • Assist with IV starts.
  • Set up Sterile Fields.
  • Administer medications/immunizations, injections as directed 
  • May complete general administrative duties as assigned including; Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Disability and Return to Work forms, Electronic Medical Record in-basket messages, etc.
  • Complete other clinical and non-clinical duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications*

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology. 
  • Moderate standing/walking, as well as, lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients. 
Associate Level:
  • 1-3 years of experience

Assistant Level:

  • 0-1 years of experience
  • Some office experience

Desired Qualifications*

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or (RMA).
  • Experience working within a large complex health care setting.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records system.
  • Experience working in a surgical or procedural outpatient or inpatient setting.

Work Schedule

Full Time hours, 40 hours per week, weekday schedule will vary depending on location/clinic.

May be occasional weekends.

Union Affiliation

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.

Background Screening
