Job Summary

  • Serve as the first point of contact for department inquiries and triage requests to the appropriate service section.
  • Coordinate compliance activities related to occupational safety and health regulations.
  • Support the UM-H Environment of Care: Hazardous Materials and Waste Management Plan and related sub-committees.
  • Provide training coordination and assist in delivering safety and environmental subject matter sessions.
  • Assist with procurement, review, and project management of contracts, permits, and service agreements with regulatory agencies and vendors.
  • Prepare and maintain reports, guidelines, manuals, newsletters, and other administrative documents.
  • Act as program lead for UM-H Prescription Safety Glasses program.
  • Assists with Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) program and chemical inventories for UM-H.
  • Participate in emergency response activities as needed.
  • Assist with data collection, reporting, and facility-focused inspections.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2-3 years of demonstrated experience in administrative support with exposure to occupational health and safety programs and knowledge of Michigan Medicine safety, emergency management, and facilities operations.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills; comfortable speaking to groups.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and Adobe applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass physical examination for emergency response and PPE use.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening.

Background Screening
