You will lead the Center's marketing vision, ensuring UMCI's message is consistent, culturally relevant, community-centered, and rooted in measurable results. Responsibilities*
- Integrated Marketing Campaigns & Project Leadership
- Develop, implement, and oversee integrated plans and content calendars that advance UMCI's brand, connect with Detroit communities, and achieve strategic goals.
- Lead campaign and event marketing initiatives, coordinate timelines and deliverables, and analyze results to guide improvements.
- Supervise and mentor the Marketing & Communications Coordinator, student interns, and vendors.
- Brand, Content & Storytelling
- Create and manage multi-channel content-written, visual, and digital-that shares learner success, community impact, and university programs.
- Ensure consistent branding and messaging across UMCI platforms, events, print materials, and media.
- Collaborate with Community Engagement to align stories and communications with community priorities and feedback.
- Media Relations & Public Affairs
- Cultivate relationships with local media, draft press releases, and coordinate interviews and executive communications.
- Support public affairs initiatives and serve as a UMCI spokesperson when needed.
- Digital & Print Channel Management
- Oversee UMCI's website, email newsletters, social media presence, and print materials.
- Grow audiences and engagement using digital marketing tools and analytics to measure campaign effectiveness.
- Donor, Partner & Community Communications
- Partner with Strategic Partnerships to develop donor, sponsorship, and stewardship materials.
- Lead UMCI's marketing presence at events (community, academic, and industry), ensuring communications reflect the diversity and needs of Detroit's communities.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive experience in marketing and communications
- Experience managing projects and delivering marketing campaigns on time, within scope, and at high quality.
- Experience developing and executing integrated marketing strategies across digital and traditional channels. (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, LinkedIn), email marketing, and website CMS.
- Proficiency with marketing analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, social media insights) and the ability to interpret data to inform decision-making.
Work Locations
The position is designed as a hybrid role with a blend of remote and onsite responsibilities requiring the presence of individuals for on-site engagement and collaboration.
