Job Summary
The research assistant hired will help implement an evidence-based decision making study being conducted in Winter 2026. The study will be conducted online with adults, and it will investigate laypeople's sensitivity to scientific study methods when applying evidence to everyday decisions.
Responsibilities*
The research assistant will work closely with Dr. Audrey Michal to implement studies online, help create digital surveys and tasks, assist with online date collection, and assist with data analysis.
Specific duties include:
- Generate fictional media reports about scientific studies
- Create surveys using Qualtrics
- Assist with analyzing open-ended response data (coding qualitative data)
- Assist with analyzing quantitative date (e.g. decisions, agreement statements)
Required Qualifications*
- The candidate must be a current undergraduate student at UM-Flint.
- The candidate should have a background in psychology, with a specific background knowledge in statistics (PSY 322) and research design (PSY 319).
Work Schedule
The candidate will be expected to work on a weekly basis during the Winter 2026 semester from January to April 2026. The candidate will be expected to work on their own time and dedicate approximately 6 hours per week to the project. Additionally, the candidate is expected to meet on a semi-regular basis with Dr. Michal.
Modes of Work
Hybrid
The work requirements allow both onsite and offsite work and an employee has an expected recurring onsite presence. On occasion, the employee may be required and must be available to work onsite more frequently if necessitated by unit leadership or their designee and/or the job requirements.
