Responsibilities*

Perform day-to-day tasks associated with data management for various healthcare data sourced by the Michigan Opioid Prescribing Engagement Network (Michigan OPEN), including interacting and collaborating on a consistent basis with other business/functional analysts, data analysts, research teams, and data stewards to obtain and integrate data from different systems. Develop and enhance data pipelines to extract, clean, transform, and merge raw data from various data sources and construct usable analytic datasets. Merge and create analytic datasets and perform analysis utilizing a variety of statistical software packages. Summarize results and create reports and/or visual presentations. Provide input on the appropriate datasets to use for analyses. Manage, track, and fulfill requests for datasets and respond to data queries. Collaborate and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that data exchange and transfers follow established protocols. Design and develop robust methods to detect missing or poor data and assess data quality and reasonableness prior to distribution. Develop and maintain reference materials, including data dictionaries and documentation of data elements, data mapping and definitions. Identify opportunities for improvement and recommend solutions for better operational processes for data management. Support the preparation of grant proposals, presentations, conferences, or scientific paper submissions. Up to 60% work from home permitted.

Required Qualifications*

Requires Masters degree in Computer Information Systems or related field + 2 years of experience: using multiple data sources, including healthcare insurance datasets such as Medicaid, to develop dashboards and reports to highlight analytical findings; coding and debugging SQL queries to extract, transform, and validate data, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in reporting and dashboard development; and using Microsoft tools including SQL Server and Power BI to perform transformation and statistical calculations, develop data visualizations, and enhance the functionality of reports and analyses.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
