Job Summary

To preform and assist with clinical procedures, maintain equipment, preform laboratory procedures and provide direct patient care. 

Responsibilities*

  • Taking and recording vital signs and collecting/processing specimens in point-of-care testing labs.
  • Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system may be required in certain areas according to approved physician-delegated protocols and standing orders.
  • Maintain In basket Messaging for Provider messaging, medication refills, Patient Portal messaging, etc.
  • Obtains and records accurate/pertinent intake information that includes preparing medical information and reports, medical history, medication information, allergies, surgical history, etc.
  • Efficiently and effectively prepare, stock, and organize clinic exam rooms with appropriate supplies and equipment.
  • Serves as a chaperone during sensitive examinations,
  • Monitor patient flow and notify patients/families of schedule or provider delays.
  • Perform other assignments such as assisting with closing processes
  • Prepare, complete forms, and ensure patients are given appropriate paperwork, i.e., test/procedure instructions, etc.
  • Support virtual care appointments as applicable
  • Demonstrate the ability to multi-task independently
  • Maintains effective, collaborative relationships with other ACUs

Required Qualifications*

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Graduation from a medical assistant program or an equivalent combination of education and experience (1 - 3 years).
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a sterile field and adhere to strict aseptic technique during invasive and semi-invasive procedures.
  • Experience preparing procedure rooms, including setup of surgical instruments, supplies, and specialized equipment.
  • Proven ability to ensure all procedural equipment is properly functioning prior to and during procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of scheduling workflows, including coordinating procedures across multiple departments.
  • Experience collaborating with schedulers, prior authorization teams, and clinical staff to support complex procedural scheduling.
  • Ability to assist with inventory management, including tracking and restocking specialized supplies and implants.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical medical assistant experience in a procedural, surgical, oncology, urology, gynecology, or interventional setting.
  • Demonstrated experience with:
  • Rooming and preparing patients for invasive or semi-invasive procedures
  • Sterile and aseptic technique
  • Patient positioning and procedural setup
  • Experience assisting providers during procedures involving implantation, catheter placement, or applicator setup.

Work Schedule

This position's hours change depending on the procedure load that day.
