Job Summary
The Department of Technology Services in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA) at the University of Michigan seeks an Application Architect, Senior to join our Web & Applications Development Services (W&ADS) team. The College of LSA consists of close to 100 departments, centers, and programs. The (W&ADS) team provides administrative information services to the College.
You will report to the Application Programming Manager of the .NET and BI Team in the Technology Services department. The salary for the position is based on the experience of the selected candidate.

LSA offers flexible work options. The W&ADS Team does a significant portion of their work remotely with an expectation of occasional work on campus. To support well-being, LSA has a communication standard that limits non-essential emails to weekday business hours.
Responsibilities*
- Application Development: You will work with a team of Application Architects and other professionals to analyze and document faculty and staff requirements, administer databases and websites, develop and support business logic, access and ETL development, and develop end user training materials and system documentation. (40%)
- Application Maintenance: Work with our team and customers to modify and configure existing web application modules to enhance functionality or modify and adapt our applications to support changing user requirements and needs. (40%)
- Data Reporting: Work with our customers and other team members to design and develop ad hoc and canned queries and reports, analyze data, and assist departments and the College in efforts to obtain and understand administrative data in the HR, Finance, Facilities, Admissions, and Student data areas. You will work with other team members to enhance the overall data reporting environment of the College. (20%)
Required Qualifications*
- A bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent job experience
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience working with information systems. It is critical to have a clear understanding and vision of how best to deploy information and applications to an end-user
- Progressively responsible technical and administrative experience in the strategic development and maintenance of information technology services/products
- Customer service experience, interpersonal skills, and experience in effectively communicating complex technical concepts and information to a wide range of users
- Experience working with users to develop specifications to meet their application needs
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure of deadlines and competing priorities
- Experience with relational data modeling, data management, database, and object oriented programming principles
- Experience with programming languages/frameworks including C#, Visual Basic, JavaScript, SQL, and CSS
- 5 years of experience developing web-based applications in a Microsoft environment (ASP.NET, WebForms, MVC, IIS)
- 3 or more years of experience working Microsoft SQL Server, including Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), ETL processes, and Oracle
- Experience working with Git or another comparable code-repository software
- Experience working with .NET Core and Blazor
- Experience working in Agile development frameworks
Desired Qualifications*
- Experience with the UM Data Delivery Environment
- Experience with Salesforce CRM: Education Cloud, HEDA, EDA, or Student Success Hub
- The ideal candidate will also be experienced with such technologies as workflow engine (like Activiti), Cloud computing, Google Apps, OLAP and/or mobile platforms
- Experience developing and consuming APIs and web services
