Job Summary
The ECE Program Assistant will work in the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) division at the University of Michigan, and will serve as an integral part of the Events/Student Life team. This position's primary focus will be ECE's summer program, Electrify Tech Camp, and will assist with other recruitment preparation activities as well as other members in the office with duties that arise. The ECE Program Assistant will also gain exposure to other functional assignments within the office.
The successful candidate will have a positive attitude, strong attention to detail, interact well with high school students, possess strong communication (oral and written) skills, be comfortable interacting with parents/guardians of program participants, well organized and flexible in changing environments.
This position is expected to work up to 20 hours per week during non-camp weeks and up to 40 hours per week during camp weeks. Additional hours may be available as needed and approved by the supervisor.
The Electrify Tech Camp consists of multiple non-residential programs for high school-aged students during the summer. Further details about the camp can be found on our website.

Responsibilities*
Assist with Electrify Tech Camp, including but not limited to:
- Coordinate student participant paperwork prior to start of program
- Prepare materials for participants including ordering and picking up supplies
- Schedule extracurricular tours and activities
- Order program supplies and ensure proper delivery and stowing
- Check-in/out liaison with parent/guardians and other authorized adults
- Supervise students during lunch and non-lab activities
- Relay concerns or problematic situations to ECE Student Recruitment and Outreach Manager
- Communicate with parents/guardians and participants of camp by email and phone
- Other duties as assigned relating to the preparation or support during the programs
Assist the ECE Student Recruitment and Outreach Manager and other ECE staff, including but not limited to:
- Data entry
- Preparing fall recruitment efforts, including updating contact information
- Benchmarking
- Work with staff organizing fall student events and conferences
Required Qualifications*
- Be available from April 1 (possibly earlier) - August 31, 2026. Individual days off during the week can be accommodated, but availability during the weeks of programs is critical
- Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2+ years of full-time work experience
- Must successfully complete a background check and all required training determined by the Children on Campus office at the University of Michigan
- Applicant must be at least 21 years of age or older.
- Demonstrated history of being detail-oriented and punctual in professional setting
- Strong written and oral communication skills
Desired Qualifications*
- Background working with summer programs for K-12 students
- General familiarity with college and higher education systems
- Background in STEM
- General familiarity with Google Drive and various Google programs (Sheets, Forms, etc)
- Previous formal training in first aid and CPR
- Valid driver's license and ability to pick-up supplies as needed in local area
Modes of Work
This position will be expected to work in-person Monday through Friday during the weeks of Electrify Tech Camp programs. Non-camp weeks will be hybrid and will be determined with the supervisor after hire of the position.
