Job Summary

We are seeking 4-5 graduate students from any field to serve as Engagement Group Facilitators and Mentors for the Rackham Program in Public Scholarship's 2026 Institute for Social Change (ISC). These are short, temporary, paid positions.

The 2026 ISC will be held in-person on-campus    . To be eligible to serve as facilitators students need to be in-person for the duration of the program dates below. The pay is $28 per hour, and the expected number of hours is 15-25 (orientation, in-person sessions, and some prep time outside of sessions).

Engagement Group Facilitators use an established facilitation guide and plan to lead small groups of peers (graduate students participating in the ISC) in activities and discussions to help them imagine and develop their ideas for community and publicly engaged scholarly projects. While there is an established set of activities and guide for facilitators to use, each is welcome to bring their own ideas, experiences, and approaches.

  • May 14: 1pm - 3pm (Rackham Building
  • May 15: 3:30pm - 4:30pm (Ginsberg Center)

Engagement Group Facilitators are welcome to attend and participate in any other part of ISC (including lunches), but they must be available at the times above to facilitate Engagement Group sessions.

Orientation: There is a short, paid orientation with lunch or snacks on either April 27, 12pm - 1:30pm or May 5, 2pm - 3:30pm. If you are selected and cannot make either of these dates, we will do our best to schedule an alternate orientation (i.e. an individual meeting with the program lead).
