Job Summary

The Department of Learning Health Sciences (DLHS) at the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, Michigan, seeks a full-time, tenure-track faculty member at the Full Professor level with rank and salary commensurate with education and experience.  The person in this senior faculty position will conduct funded research applying methods of data science and informatics, with specific foci on clinical and translational informatics, analytics, natural language processing, and research infrastructure development. They will develop and offer a course(s) in the department's graduate programs on these and related topics; and will mentor/supervise graduate students and chair doctoral dissertation committees.  Service activities will include mentoring of junior faculty members, chairing departmental committees, consultation with faculty colleagues on data issues within their studies, participating in a variety of informatics initiatives in support of research at Michigan Medicine, and representing the department in national and international scholarly organizations.

Required Qualifications*

  • A terminal degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
  • A record of excellent scholarly achievement, extramural funding or potential for funding appropriate to the applicant's seniority and professional experience
  • Demonstrated potential for successfully teaching learners from various backgrounds
  • Demonstrated contributions to academia through service to professional societies, journals/conferences, as appropriate to the applicant's position or rank
