Job Summary

We are looking for a temporary full-stack software developer to develop a web-based platform and secure data server to enable the use of generative artificial intelligence tools to identify and mitigate bias in medical trainee evaluations. The web platform will be hosted by the University of Michigan Medical School (UMMS) and used by UMMS faculty to complete evaluations, and the server will be used to securely store evaluation data. This work is being performed as part of the research project, ?An Automated Generative Artificial Intelligence Tool for Bias Mitigation in Medical Trainee Clinical Performance Evaluations? that was internally funded by the University of Michigan Academic Innovation Fund.

Responsibilities*

  • Development and creation of a web platform that securely integrates generative AI tools to enable use by UMMS faculty in real time 
  • Establish a secure server and database for the secure storage of clinical evaluation data
  • Develop industry-standard performance tests to ensure long-term functionality of the web platform 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Required Qualifications*

  • Expertise with a web development programming language (e.g. JavaScript, HTML)
  • Experience with database management, server management, and networking
  • Experience with software development language Python to integrate generative AI APIs specific to the University of Michigan (e.g. UM-GPT API) 

Desired Qualifications*

  • Experience with integrating generative AI tools
  • Strong inter-personal skills and experience working with multidisciplinary teams
  • Interest in medical and education-based projects
