Job Summary

The CIT Marketing and Communications Specialist plays a central role in shaping and sharing the voice of the College of Innovation & Technology (CIT). Reporting to the CIT Communications & Marketing Manager, you will develop compelling written content based on interviews with subject matter experts. You will also support internal communication and events, and develop, contribute to, and maintain marketing content and assets.

The Marketing and Communications Specialist ensures alignment with CIT's messaging goals and supports broader university branding efforts through clear, consistent, and audience-appropriate communication.

Responsibilities*

Interview & Long-Form Content Development

  • Conduct interviews with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and industry partners to gather insights and source stories.
  • Draft long-form content such as feature stories, blog posts, announcements, or expertise articles.
  • Help develop scripts, storyboards, and talking points for video content.
  • Lead production of custom publications (e.g., an annual alumni magazine in print and online form) from start to finish with independence.
  • Ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with the colleges voice and strategic messaging.
  • Package stories for multi-platform distribution.

Internal Communications & Event Support

  • Draft and distribute internal newsletters, announcements, and drip campaigns.
  • Execute the communications needs of CIT-led events, including scheduling, promotional messaging, signage, and post-event follow-up.
  • Design, layout, produce logistics and materials for outreach and community-facing activities.
  • Be a communications liaison for faculty and staff looking for support.
  • Provide intake and tracking of marketing requests from internal stakeholders.

Content & Asset Management

  • Contribute to and organize the CIT content library, including photography, video, design templates, and written materials.
  • Ensure that content assets are up-to-date, accessible, and aligned with brand guidelines.
  • Contribute to and maintain content on web and social platforms.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
  • (3) or more years of relevant experience that is directly relevant to the job responsibilities of this position.
  • Experience creating compelling, long-form content from interviews or source material.
  • Some productive experience with Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.).
  • Experience with content management systems (e.g., WordPress) and digital asset organization.
  • Familiarity with relevant Social Media platforms, along with demonstrated best practices in creating visual content.

Modes of Work

Hybrid:

The work requirements allow both onsite and offsite work and an employee has an expected recurring onsite presence. On occasion, the employee may be required and must be available to work onsite more frequently if necessitated by unit leadership or their designee and/or the job requirements.

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes here.

Background Screening
